FOR A PERFECT DAY IN THE CITY

A delightful Istanbul morning starts in Ortakoy with breathtaking views from Europe to Asia, in one of the numerous cafes with traditional breakfast. After breakfast and a stroll around the flea market at the square, you will pass the Ciragan and Dolmabahce Palaces and arrive at the largest art gallery in the city, Istanbul Modern. It's a unique experience to have your light lunch in the Gallery's cafe, sitting with famous artists, painters around you and discussing art in Istanbul, with a magnificent view in the background. After a short walk crossing the historical Galata Bridge on the Golden Horn you will feel "Where East meets West": On the left, a big modern city and on the right, the old city with palaces and mosques.

At the end of the Galata Bridge, you'll find yourself the closest witness to a long and glorious history of Istanbul, Sultanahmet! You can stroll the parks & alleys, discovering the marvellous historical attractions from the lavish Ottoman halls of Topkapi Palace to the worlds greatest Church St. Sophia; to the Blue Mosque with its exquisite Iznik tiles adorning its interior. You will feel as if you are in 1001 Nights at the oldest Bazaar in the world, "Kapali Carsi," with its houkapipe stands, jewellery, hand-woven carpets etc. Most important of all, you shouldn't miss the carpet show while enjoying your complimentary apple tea.

To end an Istanbul day, attend a show at the Orient House in an oriental atmosphere, enjoy the "kanun," a typical Turkish instrument; folklore, belly dancing, mehter band and derwish shows. Finally, before you go back to your room, enjoy a magnificent and panoramic view of the Bosphorus as you sip your drink at the top of the Hotel, City Lights Bar, accompanied with live music...
